SEMARANG (19/07) – Semarang container terminal (TPKS) as the only container terminal terminal in Central Java, in the period of January – June 2017 managed to record the increase of ships call (ship arrival) of 5.3 percent compared to the period Same in previous year. In the first half of 2017, the total number of ships that docked in TPKS was 395 units, while in the same period in 2016, the number of ship arrivals in TPKS was 375 units.

In general, the performance of TPKS this semester is quite good when compared with the first semester of 2017 budget. This is recorded with the realization of container flow of the first semester of 2017 amounted to 196,159 boxes or equivalent to 313,675 TEUs. Where for international containers 186,367 boxes or 302,788 TEUs and domestic containers of 9,792 boxes or 10,887 TEUs.

“Domestic vessel operation in the first half of 2017 was realized at 132 percent against the first half target. This productive number is also due to the addition of new routes in loading and unloading activities to the Port of Pontianak for rice commodities, “said Erry Akbar Panggabean General Manager of Semarang Container Terminal.

If measured by percentage, the actual flow of containers in crib units is 95 percent of the budget. This is because the ship omit (not to visit) as many as 12 units due to the Lebaran holiday at the end of June 2017. In addition, the ban on the operation of truck fleet on the highway during the H-7 to H + 7 Eid, thus impacting the flow Container in TPKS.

Nevertheless, in macro terms, economic conditions in Central Java itself are developing. This can be seen from the increase of container flow in TPKS in April and May 2017 which exceeded the monthly target of RKAP. The increase of container flow in April and May was influenced by the increase of imports in Central Java, especially textile commodities and textile basic goods, machinery and electrical equipment.

“Until now, we are optimistic that the performance of TPKS will continue to increase until the closing of the book in 2017 in line with the improvement of infrastructure and equipment used,” said Erry. (Manyar)
