Tanjung Priok Port Removed from the War Prone Port List

JAKARTA – The Joint War Committee (JWC), a committee representing UK-based securities firms, removed Port of Tanjung Priok from the port-prone harbor list.

In JWC publication released today (25/6/2018), Tanjung Priok Port is no longer listed in the list that was updated on June 14, 2018. In fact, in the previous publication, the Port of Tanjung Priok or Port of Jakarta is still listed in the list of zones prone to war.

JWC launch, there are five waters are categorized as a war risk that is Africa region, including Libya, Somalia, Nigeria and Togo. Then the Indian Ocean covers the Indian Ocean, the Arabian Sea, the Gulf of Eden, the Gulf of Oman and the Red Sea.

Furthermore, the waters are considered vulnerable to Pakistan, Iran, Iraq, Lebanon, Saudi Arabia, Syria, Yemen, and Venezuela.

To note, the cost of insurance premiums charged to the ship owner will increase if the ship docked or sailed in waters that are categorized as prone zone of war.

ALFI Urges Progressive Package Fee Exemption in Priok During Lebaran Holiday

JAKARTA – Indonesian Logistics and Forwarders Association urged the exemption of the imposition of the progressive cost of the accumulation of imported containers at Tanjung Priok Port during the Idul Fitri holiday period this year.

Chairman of Jakarta ALFI DPW Widijanto said that due to Idul Fitri holiday and the absence of trucking serving importing export during the Lebaran holiday restriction period, contained imported containers accumulate an average of more than 7 to 10 days in the port of Priok.

“This condition is due to inability to deliver because many of the holiday manufacturers and trucking fleets are not operating. Tage Ship Ready to Serve Jakarta-Los Angeles Container Route

JAKARTA – Tanjung Priok Port returns the arrival of a giant container vessel that can accommodate 10,000 TEUs (twenty-foot equivalent unit). Large ships are expected to reduce container shipping costs while increasing the competitiveness of national export products.

Based on business monitoring at Tanjung Priok Port, large vessels leaning against the CMA CGM Tage. This Malta-flagged ship will carry cargo from Jakarta to Los Angeles, United States.

Access to Merak Mas Port for Imports is Opened Immediately

JAKARTA – The government through the Coordinating Ministry for the Ministry of Marine Affairs is moving quickly to increase the flow of goods by declaring the opening of Merak Mas Port as an import-export door for the Banten region.

Coordinating Minister for Marine Affairs, Luhut B. Panjaitan said that Merak Mas Port will add export gate in West Java so that it does not rely on Tanjung Priok Port in Jakarta.

He explained, Merak Mas Port is expected to become an international trade gateway for the region of Banten.

Meanwhile, Port Patimban in Subang will become a gateway of goods goods industrial area in Karawang, Purwakarta, and Cikampek.

Luhut said, it has coordinated with several Ministries / Agencies to make the Port of Merak Mas as an international port.

Mandatory Ship for Export Delayed to 2020, Here’s the Response of INSA

JAKARTA – Shipowners believe that the delay in national vessel use for certain export and import commodities becomes a fair solution for all stakeholders. Entrepreneurs hope that the implementation of the rules requiring the use of national vessels by 2020 will no longer be postponed.

Chairman of the Indonesian National Shipowners’ Association (INSA) DPP, Carmelita Hartoto said the delay in the Regulation of the Minister of Trade which requires the use of national sea transport is a solution in developing national shipping without disturbing export activities.

To note, in November 2017 the Ministry of Trade issued PM No.82 of 2018. This rule generally requires the use of national vessels and domestic insurance for the export of coal and palm oil and for the import of rice. This rule is applied on May 1, 2018 or six months after the rule is issued.

CMA CGM Ready to Bring Jumbo Ship 10,000 TEUs

JAKARTA – The world’s third largest shipping company, CMA CGM, will bring a 10,000 TEU container vessel to Tanjung Priok Port in late April 2018. This plan is in line with increasing demand from service users who are claimed to continue to grow.

President Director of CMA CGM Indonesia Farid Belbouab said since April 2017 the company opened a direct shipping route from Jakarta to Los Angeles, USA. The route called JAX Services enables faster delivery of containers, which is 23 days compared to an indirect route for 30 days.

“We started with 8,000 TEUs since last year and the result is very successful, gradually we bring larger vessels, 9,000 TEUs and 10,000 TEUs, even close to 11,000 TEUs,” he explained after ANL Meet Customer in Jakarta, Monday (9/4 / 2018) night.

Directorate General of Customs and Excise Racing Press Dwelling Time So 3 Days

JAKARTA – Directorate General of Customs (DJBC) continues to pursue long term container shelter or dwelling time to three days according to President Joko Widodo’s instruction.

Kasubdit Imports Customs Technical Director DJBC Djanurindo Wibowo said there are three parts that are done to suppress dwelling time.
