Bisnis.com, JAKARTA- Indonesia’s logistics costs are high compared to Southeast Asian countries. The logistics cost comparison to gross domestic product (GDP) is about 23%.
President Director of PT Bhanda Ghara Reksa Ruli Adi said one of the reasons is the ineffective and efficient state-owned enterprises in managing their logistics.
“There are a lot of SOEs operating in the logistics sector, although the core business is not there,” he said in Jakarta on Thursday (9/21/2010).
In fact, according to him, the more a company’s focus on its core business will be more easily developed. For logistics it is better left to third parties.
“We are fighting fellow brothers so logistic costs hard to come down,” he added.
Therefore, BGR initiated the unification of asset data belonging to the SOE business unit operating in the logistics sector. BGR developed a big data system that collects all logistics facilities among state-owned enterprises. The data will be put together in one platform.
He noted at least 49 state-owned enterprises that have business units or subsidiaries engaged in the logistics sector. For the initial phase there are 29 companies that join in the development of the platform.
Its own development program is undertaken with PT Perusahaan Perdagangan Indonesia, PT Sarinah, PT Pos Indonesia and PT Pos Logistik.
BGR itself is a red plank company engaged in the logistics sector with the main business of warehouse rental and distribution of goods.
