This is related to the transfer of container terminal services, following the strike action by PT JICT unions.

The contingency effort proved to streamline the flow of container services uninterrupted by strikes by JICT unions.

So far, according to Yukki N. Hanafi, Chairman of the Indonesian Logistics and Forwarders Association (ALFI), based on association evaluation, the transfer of container terminal service from JICT to Koja Container Terminal (TPK) Koja, NPCT 1 and the Port of Jakarta runs smoothly, without any constraints.

“We appreciate the contingency efforts of all parties, especially Kemenhub,” he said on Monday (9/11).

He considered the main concern of logistics and forwarder entrepreneurs is the smoothness of container services at the Port of Tanjung Priok. It is normal for ALFI to give appreciation to Kemenhub, Port of Tanjung Priok Authority and Syahbandar Office of Tanjung Priok Port, along with container terminal which become diversion ie Koja Container Terminal (TPK) Koja, NPCT 1, Port of Jakarta.

He explained, all parties involved have shown extra effort to support the flow of container flow in the Port of Tanjung Priok.

“Based on our evaluation, about 20 shipping lines (ocean going) shifted from JICT to Koja Container Terminal (TPK), NPCT 1, and Port of Jakarta.Now if there are shipping lines that do not return to JICT, their choice is related to service and certainty no conflict, “he said.

He also mentioned the conflict between JICT union and JICT’s ongoing management. “We also heard a mutual report between the two parties. That’s their internal problem, “he said.

Yukki just underlined, the concerns of various parties about the impact of JICT workers strike will disrupt the process of loading and unloading containers and affect the flow of export-import does not happen. Since the beginning of August until now, the loading and unloading process at the container terminal at Tanjung Priok Port runs smoothly.

“We also continue to monitor the conditions and provide input, both at the port and surrounding areas, such as road congestion conditions outside the harbor, how the solution,” said Yukki.

He hopes the smooth flow of loading and unloading in the container terminal can be maintained as traffic will increase towards the end of the year. Traffic loading and unloading in the container terminal will increase in line with the increase in export demand, especially at the end of the year. “As an illustration, at the end of the year there is usually an increase in exports to Europe and America, especially for sweaters and other products. This yearly cycle, usually the end of the year there is an increase in the flow of exported goods, “he said.

Previously, Minister of Transportation Budi Karya Sumadi ordered the Tanjung Priok Port Authority and Syahbandar Port Tanjung Priok Port Office to complete the JICT crisis, and prepared three options in anticipation with all stakeholders, related to Jakarta International Container Terminal (JICT) strike action in 3-10 August 2017.

Based on these instructions, the Tanjung Priok Port Authority appointed a number of container terminals for the transfer of services from JICT, among others TPK Koja, NPCT 1, and Port of Jakarta. TPK Koja is required to handle and ensure the smooth running of the current goods flow in the Port of Tanjung Priok based on the Letter of OP No: UM.002 / 17/18 / OP.TPK / 17.
