The cremation of Indonesian artist I Nyoman Gunarsa to Take Place in Klungkung on Saturday, September 30, 2017.
One of Indonesia’s and Bali’s most senior artists, Gunarsa died at Sanglah General Hospital in Denpasar on September 10, 2017.
Nyoman Gunarsa, 74, curated an extensive collection of contemporary Indonesia art at the Klungkung museum that he founded in 1989. His paintings form part of important private and museum collections, including the National Palace of Indonesia in Jakarta.
Gunarsa’s son, I Gede Artison “Sonny” Andarawata, has confirmed that his Father’s cremation will take place on Saturday, September 30, 2017.
As reported by Balipost.com, the date for the cremation ceremony (aben) was set after consultation with religious elders in Griya Batu Tabih, Desa Takmung, Banjarangkang, Klungkung Regency.
The remains of the artists will under go a ritual cleansing (nyiramin) on Friday, September 29th with the cremation taking place on the following day, September 30, 2017.
