SURABAYA – PT Pelabuhan Indonesia (Pelindo) III claims that it now has a more competitive ship and goods service tariff in Tanjung Perak Port compared to Singapore.
CEO of Pelindo III IGN Askhara Danadiputra commonly called Ari, said the total cost of the entire port starting cost of ship services, handling containers or Container Handling Charge (CHC) in Tanjung Perak Surabaya is now 57% lower than the port in Singapore.
“With the tariff difference is expected to be a distinct advantage for the Port of Tanjung Perak to gain a wider market share in handling port services,” he said through a press release on Monday (6/11/2017).
He explained that the competitive cost of this can be seen from container vessels with 1,930 boxes and with box ship per hour performance (BSH) of 50 boxes per hour, the service user is charged the total cost by Tanjung Perak Port of Rp2.61 billion.
“While at the Port of Singapore, the service user charged a total cost of Rp3, 6 billion,” said Ari.
Even so, he added, Tanjung Perak Port still needs to be improved and improved in order to be able to compete with other big ports such as transhipment arrangement or container loading and unloading process from ship to cultivation area, until waiting time of vessel.
“Support from the government is also expected to keep the operational costs of the harbor as a whole can be suppressed,” he said.
Corporate Secretary of Pelindo III Faruq Hidayat added that the company also improves the business process and information technology, namely centralized procurement which can reduce operating costs by 30%.
“We will continue to look for the right formulation to improve competitiveness by always providing competitive rates and improving business models, procedural operating standards, waiting time, and ship delays so that service users trust our services,” he said.
