JAKARTA – The Ministry of Transportation targets a review of the North Bali Airport discussion over the next 2 to 3 months.
Minister of Transportation Budi Karya Sumadi said the various parties are reviewing and providing opinions that will be collected to be made conclusions.
“So, the study gives the best room to choose because Bali is the main destination so should carefully choose and build,” he said in Jakarta on Monday (2/4/2018).
Previously the government postponed the development because research conducted by the World Bank called the North Bali airport is not yet feasible to be built.
In fact, North Bali Airport is included in the national master plan of the airport based on Regulation of the Minister of Transportation no. 69/2013 on the National Airport Order.
The construction of this airport aims to accommodate the growth of passengers at Ngurah Rai Airport is getting higher.
North Bali Airport is planned to accommodate 32 million passengers with a terminal area of 230,000 m2. Meanwhile, runway length reaches 4,100 m.
The construction to be carried out offshore requires a reclamation license. It is regulated in Presidential Regulation no. 122/2012 on Reclamation in Coastal Areas and Small Islands.
If the construction of the airport is done on land, it does not require such permission or sufficiently meet the requirements in Regulation of the Minister of Transportation No. 20/2014 on Procedure and Determination of Airport Location.
