DENPASAR- Extension of the closure of Airport I Gusti Ngurah Rai Bali used by PT Angkasa Pura I (Persero) to mengoptomalisasi repair and maintenance work of water side area. This is done along with the ongoing service to the passengers of the aircraft affected by the airport closure due to the eruption of Mount Agung.
“Outside of regular scheduled maintenance work, to take advantage of the airport’s operational closure status due to the eruption of Gunung Agung, the management of I Gusti Ngurah Rai Bali Airport also performs non-routine jobs such as apron improvements that have reached 90% and water channel grill , “Said Corporate Secretary of PT Angkasa Pura I (Persero) Israwadi through a press release on Wednesday (29/11/2017).
The work is like painting runway taxiway and apron markers, runway strip cutting, and cleaning of rubber deposits. Other work done to take advantage of Bali Airport closing status is the overlay of runway 09-27 whose progress is estimated to reach 23 percent.
Work on overlay or some sort of Ngurah Rai runway thickening if the normal day can only be done after 02.00 until 07.00 just due to the density of flight schedule at this airport.
I Gusti Ngurah Rai Airport will still be closed until Thursday (30/11/2017) at 07.00 Wita due to the discovery of volcanic ash in airport air space.
The decision to extend the third airport closure was based on the evaluation of Mount Agung eruption evaluation by the airport community led by Otban Airport Region IV Bali Nusra.
