JAKARTA – Minister of Transportation Budi Karya Sumadi stressed that the construction of Adi Soemarmo International Airport Railway will be completed in November 2018.
In order for the project to be completed on target, he wants the set targets to remain unchanged. Therefore, he added, the project’s land acquisition target should be completed by November 2017.
Solo is one of the tourist destinations and the Adi Soemarmo International Airport Railway project is included in a national strategic project monitored by President Joko Widodo and Vice President Jusuf Kalla in a cabinet meeting.
“Therefore we want the determined targets to be non-sliding, ie the land acquisition is completed in November 2017, the project [Airport Railway] is completed by November 2018,” Budi said in a press release on Friday (8/25/2017).
He explained that the current Adi Soemarmo International Airport railway project is in the land acquisition stage.
Related to the acquisition, he continued, the project organizers are negotiating with several parties such as the Air Force and the Ministry of Public Works and Public Housing.
“We are currently negotiating with the Air Force, the Ministry of PUPR, so the administrative stay will be settled, if there will be socialization on 4 to 8 September, if socialization will be finished soon,” he said.
Currently, he continued, the project organizer has prepared funds for land acquisition and building that will be used to build the railway infrastructure of Adi Soemarmo International Airport.
He believes, the mayor of Solo has a surefire way to conduct land acquisition properly and quickly.
KA Adi Soemarmo International Airport, he added, will facilitate the access of people who travel from the airport to Klaten, Prambanan, or Madiun.
“Imagine that people from Klaten, Prambanan take the train from the house directly to the airport, it’s nice .. Instead of Madiun can also directly because now Madiun difficult if you want to Airport and travel time 3 hours by vehicle,” he said.
Minister of Transportation hopes that the presence of Adi Soemarmo International Airport Railway can increase the number of passengers because the mode of rail-based transportation can reach the area around Solo.
“Currently, the growth of passengers in Solo is the largest, with 1.4 million passengers last year, 2.4 million passengers nowadays.If the catchment (area) increases, the passengers also increase, we expect to be the same with Jogja about 8 to 10 million passengers, “said Minister of Transportation.
