Chairman of the Indonesia National Air Carriers Association (INACA), Pahala Mansyuri said Indonesia has the potential to develop the cargo industry. He said growth in the last three years of about 15 percent, in the future chances are quite large.
Pahala said Indonesia is Southeast Asia’s largest economy and the country’s gross domestic product (GDP) grew about 5.6 percent in 2016, according to the Indonesian Cargo Transport Report, published by the global research site BMI Research.
Indonesia saw its air cargo sector grow about 3.5 percent over the past year, compared with 1.75 percent in 2015, thanks to rising consumer demand for imported goods.
“As an industry, we also want to learn from cargo companies outside Indonesia,” Pahala said through a written statement on Thursday (18/5).
INACA and other leading cargo companies in Indonesia, including PT Garuda Indonesia (Persero) Tbk in cooperation with TIACA (The International Air Cargo Association) of Indonesia National Air Carriers Association to support the growth of air cargo industry in Indonesia.
General Secretary of TIACA (The International Air Cargo Association) Vladimir Zubkov together with the Chairman of Cargo Aviation at INACA Boyke Subroto and PT Garuda Indonesia (Persero) Tbk Freight Director Sigit Muhartono pledged cooperation at Air Cargo Summit Indonesia 2017.
TIACA (The International Air Cargo Association) Secretary General Vladimir Zubko said he would support the growth of air cargo owned by Indonesia.
“Indonesia has the potential and growth of air cargo is very rapid and we will work together continuously with the industry here and bring experts from TIACA to conduct training to support that growth,” said Zubkov.
