Bisnis.com, JAKARTA – Silangit Airport in North Sumatra will be inaugurated as an international airport by President Joko Widodo in October 2017.
In its official statement on Saturday (9/9/2017), Coordinating Minister for Home Affairs Luhut Binsar Pandjaitan said Silangit Airport could be an alternative stop for travel from and to other countries such as Singapore that has been tested previously.
Meanwhile, Luhut together entourage President Joko Widodo paid a working visit to Singapore and made a landing at the airport recently. Private jets used by the entourage can land without experiencing problems.
“In October, President Joko Widodo will inaugurate Silangit Airport as an international airport,” he said.
Landing opportunities, he said, became one way to test the readiness of the airport before being inaugurated next month.
In addition to Silangit Airport which will be inaugurated as an international airport, this year, the Ministry of Transportation will inaugurate 7 and 1 new terminals in some parts of Indonesia.
New airports to be inaugurated include, Maratua Airport in Berau, East Kalimantan, Tebelian Airport in West Kalimantan, Letung Airport in Anambas, Riau Islands, and Morowali Airport in Central Sulawesi.
In addition, the inauguration will also take place at Namniwel Airport in Buru, Maluku. Then, Werur Airport in Tambrauw, West Papua, and Koroway Batu Airport in Tanah Merah, Papua. In addition to the new airport, there will also be the inauguration of the new Terminal Building at Radin Inten II Airport located in Tanjung Karang, Lampung.
“So it must be really ready,” he said.
