Association of Travel Agents (ASITA) Seeking to Restore Bali’s Image Following Two-Day Closure of Airport for Volcanic Dust

The manager of the China Section of the Association of Indonesian Tour and Travel Agents Association – Bali (ASITA-Bali), Chandra Salim, has called on member of the National House of Representatives (DPR-RI) involved in tourism matters to quickly restore Bali’s tourism industry following the eruption of Mount Agung.
Quoted by the State News Agency Antara, Salim said on Monday, December 4, 2017, “We have already met with the China Section of the Central ASITA Board to discuss recovery strategies for tourism, particularly in Bali, in the midst of the continuing volcanic activity on Mount Agung.”
The Bali China Section of ASITA-Bali is meeting the National House of Representatives to plan ways to support the restoration of Bali’s tourism image.
Chandra Salim said that if steps were not taken to restore Bali’s image, recovery would be complicated by incorrect news reports regarding the eruption and the closure of airports in Bali and Lombok.
Only through a concerted effort to restore the Chinese market will Indonesia be able to achieve its target of 20 million foreign tourist visitors per year, he said.
The Chinese authorities will apparently only lift the negative travel advisory and restore flights when Mount Agung’s alert level is lowered from its current highest alert level.
