JAKARTA – Driver and fuel costs become the biggest cost component in logistic truck operations in Indonesia.
Data from the Indonesian Logistics and Forwarders Association (ALFI) quoted by Bisnis on Wednesday (9/8/2017) showed that the transportation sector consumes 20% of total national final energy consumption.
While 97% of the total consumption is using fuel oil (BBM). Other costs include driver’s salary (37%), 98% maintenance) and tire (2%).
The oil fuel (BBM) component covers 29% -32% of the total truck operational cost. Any fuel price increase of Rp1000 will increase operational costs by 4%.
While the current truck drivers’ salary averages between Rp4 million-Rp5 million per month.
In general, transportation costs cover 45% of the overall logistics costs.
Based on data owned by the Association of Indonesian Automotive Industries (Gaikindo), there are currently around 6.2 million trucks in Indonesia.
