Bisnis.com, JAKARTA – The Ministry of Transportation ensures the increase in the cost of Aviation Navigation Services (PJNP) is delayed until June 2019.
Head of the Public Information and Communication Bureau of the Ministry of Transportation, Hengki Angkasawan, said the reason for delaying the increase in navigation costs was to reduce operating costs for airlines. It is expected that ticket prices paid by passengers can also be reduced.
“PJNP Airnav has postponed its increase for 6 months starting from January 2019. The planned increase in the beginning was from Rp. 6,000 to Rp. 7,000 for each en route,” Hengki said, Thursday (02/21/2019).
Some time ago, he continued, flight fares had burdened the community. The delay in raising navigation costs is one of the government’s efforts to jointly reduce flight operating costs.
Previously, based on the Decree of the Minister of Transportation No. 853/2018 concerning Determination of PJNP Fees, raising tariffs will be carried out gradually until January 1, 2019.
For details, adjusting PJNP fees on domestic routes from Rp. 3,000 to Rp. 4,000 per route unit from June 23, 2018. Then it will rise again to Rp. 5,000 on September 21, 2018, Rp. 6,000 on December 20, 2018, and Rp. 7,000. on January 1, 2019.
This tariff increase is still below the PJNP rate for international en-route flights, which is US $ 0.65 or around Rp9,000 with a dollar exchange rate of Rp13,850. Meanwhile, the regulation has been established since May 25, 2018
