JAKARTA – The Ministry of Transportation expects port activities can last for 24 hours in 7 days along with the operation of Inaportnet in 16 ports throughout Indonesia.

Minister of Transportation Budi Karya Sumadi said Inaportnet application can unite all stakeholders. These conditions can make the savings both in terms of time and human resources.

“As in Priok, not knowing when it can happen, I ask Saturday – Sunday to enter. No more Saturday-Sunday is a holiday. Inaportnet is a single electronic information service system based on the Internet to integrate a standard port information system in serving vessels and goods from all relevant agencies or port stakeholders, including port business service systems.

Minister of Transportation believes that the productivity of Tanjung Priok Port will also increase with harbor activity on Saturday and Sunday.

“If Saturday-Sunday closed, it means every week brake, continue to be preparation again. That’s troublesome. With it opened, my expectations of Priok productivity increased. This will be followed by other ports. All with IT should be ready to open on Saturday and Sunday, “said Budi.

He targets to increase productivity of Tanjung Priok Port, for example, can reach 20% -25% in one year with the existence of information technology.

The 16 ports that have applied Inaportnet include Belawan Port, Palembang, Teluk Bayur, Panjang, Pontianak, Banjarmasin, Balikpapan, Tanjung Priok, Tanjung Emas, Tanjung Perak, Makassar, Bitung, Ambon, Banten, Gresik and Sorong Port.
