BATAM (Beritatrans.com) – Indonesia will have special guest, Ms. Shaesta Waiz, Afghanistan’s first female commercial pilot for Afghan descent, will be doing solo flight around the world to 18 countries. Bali is the 15th stop on August 4, 2017 next week.
“Ms. Shaesta Waiz will be doing solo flight around the world, Indonesia is included in one of the countries dismissing solo flying activities. Shaesta Waiz. The solo flight activity by Ms. Waiz has a mission to inspire young people, especially women, to be interested in STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering & Maths) in aviation.
The plan before the solo flight to Bali, Ms. Waiz will stop by Batam, using the Ferry from Singapore on Monday (31/7) for the campaign of airline awareness as well as introduce and attract young people, especially women to explore the science of aviation.
Added Barata, based on data from the International Civil Aviation Organization (ICAO) which is the world’s aviation body under the UN, that the number of female commercial aircraft pilots is only about 6% of the total number of pilots available.
